In today’s Business World a Virtual Assistant is any individual that has a MARKETABLE SKILL; this person owns their business and work from their home or a Virtual Office.  While Virtual Assistant is still a new concept, it has been around in the business world for quite sometimes.  Preciously, Virtual Assistants were called, Secretaries, Administrative Assistants, Executive Assistants, Personal Assistant and so on.  These positions were all performed in a traditional office.

 

In today’s Business World a Virtual Assistant is much more than the original assistants.  The range of our expertise has exploded into new fields, and all can be performed in the owners’ office or offsite.  This brings us back to our original question, WHAT IS A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT?  

 

Wikipedia Encyclopedia describes this profession as,  “A Virtual Assistant (typically abbreviated to VA, also called a virtual office assistant) is an entrepreneur who provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients from a home office. They usually work for others small businesses, brokers and consultary groups. It is estimated that there are as few as 5,000-8,000 or as many as 35,000 Virtual Assistants worldwide; the profession is growing in centralized economies.”    This only explains Virtual Assistant that specialist in area that’s concentrated with in an office atmosphere.  What about other areas?

 

A new Virtual Assistant profession started emerging in the early 2000’s.  They call themselves, SPECIALIST VIRTUAL ASSISTANT”,  they are different Virtual Assistant because of the work that they perform.  Some Specialist Virtual Assistant are, Engineers, Drafters and Detailers, Software Developers, Service Agents and Offices Abroad, (Informative or Active)  and Advisers (General, Technical, Business and Educational).
